Backing-In For Parking
Here in Japan the vast majority of drivers back into parking
spaces. It’s not unusual to find a car blocking a narrow road while it backs neatly
into place. Me, I don’t understand it. To back in you need to precisely align
yourself into a given space and takes a bit of time, whereas, to back out, no
precision is necessary and it can be done quite quickly. Surprisingly, to me,
if you Google “backing-in to parking space” you will find some pretty profound psychological
articles written about this topic. Hmm, who would have thunk?
